Question about Carter Elec. Pump/Mech Pump:

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rocket hot rod, Aug 15, 2010.

  1. I am finally replacing my Carter 4070 electric pump with my newly rebuilt AC Mechanical fuel pump on the Rocket. I want to keep the electric pump attached (for use as a back up) so I was thinking of disconnecting the power to it and having the AC pump pull the fuel through it to supply the Carbs.

My question: will the AC mech. pump pull fuel through the Carter electric pump even though the elec. pump will no be running?

PS. My backup plan in case the AC pump fails is to divert the fuel (using valves away from the pump and allow the electric pump to begin supplying the fuel. I would not be pushing fuel into the failing mech. pump.

    Thanks all.
