hey anyone out there use a mac? my deal is, (and i know tock uses a mac, basically the same with his photos) is i post them as thumbs, but the actual image is only about 2x as large as the thumb. i see ppl post pics up there, and once they open the pics are HUGE showing tons of detail...i wanna do that, but i get past a certain size and the file is too large. any mac users have any ideas? i am using iphoto right now, dont have photoshop, and iphoto isnt really too great a program i dont think but any ideas are welcome.

    thanx

I'm a mac user. What you need to do is use a program that compresses the jpg to a form that looks good on the web, but you wouldn't want to use to make a print. I use Photoshop Elements, the cheap, stripped down version of Photoshop. First I "Save As" under the File menu and give it another name or save it in a different place so I don't screw up my original. The sooner I get it away from the original, the more comfortable I feel. Then I make it whatever size you want it to be. After that, I "Save for the Web. This is a selection under "File." It will allow you to select a degree of compression that is acceptable to you. After doing all that, you will have a photo that has the same dimensions as the higher resolution jpg you started out with, but it is a much smaller file. It is also possible that you are using another file format that will have a larger file than a jpg. There is probably a way to do the same thing in iPhoto, but iPhoto just confuses the poop out of me and since I have Elements, I use it.
