Technical Question about re-torquing cylinder heads.

    Retorqued heads with engine exhaust manifold/head "lukewarm". Got about 1/8 turn on all. About 1/3 of them torqued without backing off - had to back off/crack the others loose. Should have lubed under bolt heads - could be some had a bit of oil on them.

    This was about the same on other Pontiac 400 using FelPro blue gaskets with ARP bolts with light assembly lubed threads/washers when engine was cold. In future, I'll retorque when warm.

    Don’t do aluminum heads warm. 45 max.
