Is there a way for a hack like me to upload old video tape to you tube I have a lot of hot rods and shows from the late 70's and 80's. HRP
You'll need a contraption like this to convert your ****og video tapes into a digital file of some sort. http://www.honestech.com/main/VHStoDVD40HD.asp There's several different brands of these things and I've seen them for closer to $40 to $50 dollars. Craigslist might be a way to find a bargain on a used one. If your computer is new enough and equipped properly you might already have most of what you need. Mainly you need a place to plug in the ****og outputs from a VCR and some software to do the ****og to digital conversion. Then you need to know what video file types YouTube will accept. I'm thinking something like FLVs or MPEGs, but your software should give you the necessary choices of how to save your new digital files. An older, slower computer may give you some grief but I've done them on my 5+ year old WinXP desktop. As far as uploading the videos you'll probably want at least a DSL connection. Video files can be humungous and might choke up a slower internet connection. It might be a bit daunting at first but it's neat to watch your old video tapes on your computer. Let me know if you need any help.
Got the device in today ,,now just get my daughter to show me how it works and I'll be golden,,thanks man. HRP
Worst case scenario, HRP, just find some 8 yr. old in the neighborhood. They will probably know how to do it.........This "gettin' old" thing isn't all it's cracked up to be.
