Hi everybody...I have not posted here in a long time Well...not much has happened to my 52 Chevy 2 door deluxe until the last two weeks. I did a little bit of messing with it...but a week and a half ago it went into a shop... The rearend is finished up, gas tank and fuel lines are ran, brake lines are ran, firewall is complete, transmission cross member is welded in, and a few other things are finished up (steering stuff)...this next week the engine and transmission are going in and wiring and guages too. I will be taking some pics this week when I drop off the engine and transmission (350/350). Now to my questions...will a 53 one peice windshield fit in my 52 (which has a two peice)? and..if you have a 49 to 54 chevy...what size tires are you running? I need to order some wide white wall radials soon...I would like to run the same size up front and in the back. Thanks! Lotus
Get the windshield from the same type Olds as your Chevy. Coupes and sedans are different I believe. Get the trim from the olds too. That gets rid of the center post.
There is a guy at Long Beach Swap that sells em.....I think they are pricey. He is on the 1st row closest to the stadium. FONZI
I am not positive , but I think that Chevys of the Fourties was selling them , think they even had one that was chopped as well.
chevys of the forties didn't have them on the website but these guys did link to chev olds windshield
for tires, I was running 205/75/15 but did not like the way it drove. I would suggest a 215/70/15 or a 205/70/15 if you want the same size all the way around..
Lotus! Emailed you a couple of weeks ago. No answer. Been by a lotta times but no activity, so I keep goin'. I know ya work nights, or used to. Call or come by. Glad you're back on here. Rob
Hi, how have you been! I have only been checking my work email on a regular basis...I will check the personal ones when I get home today. Thanks for all the information! I will be doing some ordering of parts today (windshield and i need a e-brake setup...) the car will be drivable here in a couple weeks I am guessing!
Just got back from dropping off the engine and tranny!! I am excited like you would not believe. the car is looking great! brakes are complete and bled (not 100% sure I like the pedal feel but I can live with it)...steering is all in and tight. Firewall is done and the remote fill brake res is mounted on it. transmission crossmember is welded in. fuel tank is complete (brand new tank, filler hose, and fuel sender). Rear suspension is all put back in. this week the front suspension is going to be finished, engine and tranny are going in, battery is going in and the car will be started. A couple panel patch jobs will happen the following week. Then it is off to the body shop for some smoothing and a coat of semi gloss black. Then it goes back to the guy that is working on it and the new wiring kit is going in (not using my black wire ez-wire kit). The guy is putting in a kit that only uses the wires you need (it is the one he is used too so I am flexible). Gauges will be going in and the electric wind shield wiper motor kit. Then the car heads off to the upholstery shop. This is all going to be happening quite quickly it looks like too! This sunday I will be doing work on the front body clip getting it all sanded and painted so that it can go back on the car next weekend. I was so excited today seeing the car that I forgot to even get the camera out of my truck!!! sorry...no new pics.
