What kind of fixtures do you guys have for painting odd objects. I need to paint my motorcycle frame and I was thinking of attatching a fixture to my engine stand that would allow me to spin the frame as I spray color and clear.

Any better ideas? I dont want to paint swinging wind chimes upside down on my head.

I have fixtures I built for bike sheet metal, simple enough, but I just hang the frames. Hang them high enough to squat under them, and use enough support to keep them from swinging. I use thick welding wire, instead of rope. I suppose you could make a new 'head' for an engine stand to do what you propose. Frames are heavy, and awkward, though. Take some experimenting to get it to rotate fully, but it'll never be balanced real well. That may give you grief while trying to rotate it when the paint is wet! I'd attach the frame by the neck...use a big dia. threaded rod and washers through the neck.

Thanks, I might try to go thru the head tube and mount it to the engine stand so I can spin it. Im not a painter so I need all of the help I can get.

Unless you have a place you can touch the wet paint so you can rotate it, and it will not show later, I think your in for trouble. We used a dummy rear axle welded to a post on a truck rim filled with concrete. This allows the frame to be stood up on its rear axle and you can get to most everywhere without much trouble. This way you are walking around it and not under and over it.

Born2late, Im talking about an engine stand that the head unit spins, the type you use to build a motor, not a stationary stand. If I mount the frame to the spinning part I can rotate the frame without touching it.

Weld up another head and more 'tube' sticking out the backside.....attach an old large dia. steering wheel.
