sbc, holley carb, crate motor, dual point dist. Idles fine. Runs out fine. Throttle response snappy. No stumbling. Problem. After full tilt burn out, car dies. Restarts okay. Does it hot or cold. New points, plugs, wires, timed right. Carb seems fine, as in no leaking. Clean gas, clean filter, new lines. Any suggestions? Thanks
Thats where I was gonna go too, lean as in no fuel. Is the motor stock? you could be flooding it out too. how big is the carb?
Not a sbc problem but a fuel supply problem. If you don't do the burnout and slam on the brakes and just come to the line and nail it and make a hard pass will it pull all the way through the quarter? I take it you are actually racing the car and not just a clown doing burnouts.
As soon as it dies, pull a float chamber screw - see if it's empty. If it is, you have your problem and your solution. Cosmo
as soon as you're finished with the burnout, put the trans in neutral, and rev the engine some. I always do that as a matter of habit. I guess I started drag racing too soon in my life.
Turned in my floppy shoes after six of us got stuck in the little car and the elephant sat on the damn thing
