History Question for the Banger Guru's

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Logan LeMaster, Jun 6, 2025.

  1. I've been slowly accumulating parts for a model B engine I'm hoping to build for a future project. So far I have the engine a Winfield intake and a nice old chrome Stromberg 81. I recently ran across a small collection of intakes, the fellow has Ansen, Tattersfield, and Winfield intakes. My question is what intakes are the hardest to find? Also any other brand intakes that would be rare and make a nice show piece? I would like to pick a nice piece or two, and I'm trying to grab the ones that would be the hardest to find later. Thanks in advance.

The Winfield manifolds work great, just keep in mind that you will need the correct size carb to mount up. Manifolds were made in AA/B/BB sizes, and are stamped on the bottom near the casting number. watch for cracks near the port flanges. The 81 is about the same size as the Winfield AA, and a 97 about BB. Either size carb will fuel a modified flathead banger nicely.

  3. Wow that chart is super handy! Thanks for sharing. The current Winfield intake I have is a BB. The bolt hole spacing will be handy as hell!! Thanks
