I am a current subscriber to Street Rodder magazine as well as a registered member of their forum . I have their website bookmarked on my computer . Haven't had many chances lately to go there but did today for the first time in a while ! The bookmark took me straight to the Hot Rod magazine website . This happened several times as I tried to connect to the SR website . I also have a subscription ( as well as having it bookmarked as well ) to Hot Rod but was puzzled as to why I was directed to their website rather than the SR site ? Have they merged , were they connected all along , or...... ? Can anyone shed any light on this ?

  2. Sure, they are all owned by the same organisation.

I feel a little creepy even answering, a bit like the question

  3. I'm no street rod fan, but didn't that mag die?
Billet and pastle are creepy to me too.

I'm pretty sure HRM and SR are now part of the same organisation. Probably part of the Illuminati's New World Order plan to dominate the world of Hot Rodding, mwahahaha!

no doubt the same jokers who thought i would love Motor Trend when they quit publishing Rod & Custom.
At least that the only logical reason i can come up with for how that started to show up, and not too long after renewing for 2 or 3 years to R&C to save a little.

when R&C died they assumed that Street rodder was the magazine that I would want as a substitute. It is the first time in my magazine subscribing history (first subscribed to hot rod and PHR in 72) that I threw magazines away. I had always kept them in the past. I finally called their subscription dept last week and told them to stop sending them....

I feel your pain too and a little betrayed. I used to have 5 or 6 car magazine subscrpitions. I loved them all. Hotrod, Rod&Custom, StreetRodder, Rodder's Digest, etc. I currently get the Goodguys Gazette and the NSRA monthy magazine. I know they have an abundance of the "cookie cutter" type street rods, but occasionally, they show some HAMB related stuff. Almost monthly, our own Bob K is being shown in his Chevy and lots of other members. I know it's not cheap to publish but with all the advances in printing and shipping, you might think someone like Geroge Poteet or Gene Winfield would try their hand in the "everybody's hotrod" magazine. Then I would be subscribing again.

It appears much of the content that would have gone into R&C is slowly seeping into Street Rodder. The whole magazine thing was beat to death a few months ago and I contend there is something to be learned or usefull in most of the mags even if they're not in your niche so to speak.

I agree completely with the above statement. You guys who drone on about "Street Rods" like they are some alien life form just sound silly. I get that some of the differences in taste are not everyone's cup of tea, and I don't disagree with that notion.

But some of you guys remind me of Grade School, back when some of our classmates (who apparently have grown up to become Street Rodders) were accused of having "Cooties"! :D

  16. ...............You and i.rant are right. I had subscribed to R&C off and on since Jr. High, and trust me, that was a long time ago.:(....I was just as disappointed as anyone when they folded but Street Rodder is making an effort at least to carry on some of the R&C vibe. Witness the March 2015 issue with features on a Hemi powered '40 Mercury convertible, a blown Ardun motivated '32 5 window and a beautifully crafted '27 Roadster with an exquisite jewel of a Flathead. All of this and some decent coverage of the Rodder's Journal Revival, Cruising the Coast and Shades of the Past events along with some tech articles. I even think they've cut back a little on the overwhelming ads that once dominated the magazine. I'm not complaining, time marches on.

The company that owns SR has merged all online magazine content under the HOT ROD banner. Whatever you're looking for from SR is there, somewhere.

And my current issue of SR has 4 feature cars that are HAMB worthy, & 2 that aren't. Perhaps instead of whining, one should pick up a copy & discover that pastel and billet are not the flavor of the day anymore.

Its a shame, but the same companie ownes most of the mags. now. they seem to just not get what the hobby is (was?) about. they keep doing away with good old standards, and folding them into basic(billit laden)mags , ie, Rod & Custom into Street Rodder. They beleive any car can be a street rod? thats odd, so they see no difference in a Model A, and a Honda. Dont like it , no siree.

No doubt that Larry could possibly rolling something!

All joking aside,I subscribed to SRM years ago along with everything that had anything to do with hot rods, sadly titles like Rod Action,Rod & Custom were deemed not Necessary by the corporate bean counters along with many other titles.

I honestly believe that Ryan predicted the demise of print in one of his post 10 years ago. HRP

I, too, had a long time left on my R&C subscription when they folded. So they gave me Hot Rod Magazine. I had stopped reading HRM in the sixties when they were no longer writing about hot rods. They were into drag boats, go-karts, and other perversions. My HRMs from 1953 to about 1965 were all worth saving and I still have them all. R&C probably noticed that I was already getting Street Rodder so they didn't try to give me anothet one or to extend my Street Rodder subscription - which I would have much preferred over HRM.

    Frank......
I'm wondering how you can pass judgement on Hot Rod Magazine when by your own admission you gave up on its content nearly 50 years ago. A lot has happened in the Rodding world since.

Scary is with a little over attention start I can actually read the sign..Maybe be a productive day..I too was given Motor Trend when R&C finished..I called , they offered SR, I took Rod Worxs [sic]. Got one issue [I thought pretty decent mag] and that was it, e mailed and month later got another issue...They owe me like four..Anyone have a good calling and yelling at telephone number?
While my brain could read the sign it can't find a phone number:confused:...

I took BOTH R&C and SR---note the word TOOK. They did not die of overexposure to billet and pastel colors either. I get more out of the HAMB and I don't pay for it----except occasional abuse for not being a total traditionalist. Let the beatings begin.
