Can dents in wheel covers / hubcaps be pounded out?

Hell yes. If it is metal, with a dent in, it can be removed easily enough.

So I could take these to a body guy and have him fix them??

  6. Only if he is a good hammer 'n' dolly guy. There are actually people that specialize in restoring trim pieces. Look for someone like that.

If they are totally trashed I would just look for different hub caps.

I will have to get them off the car and take a closer look, they were closing and wanted us out.

I would recommend you find someone who repairs stainless trim, or a paintless dent remover.

    What hubcaps, make, year, model?
If they are chromed steel, the chrome may flake off when straightened (or already be on the verge).

Actually, I would be interested in hearing how this goes. I have a set of dog dishes for my o/t car that need some help. Same thing, I would like to try to work some of the dings out without damaging the plating.

    Hey,

Yes ,dents in "nave plates" can straightened be they in stainless or chrome steel or aluminum. I'd suggest you try a plating shop, or perhaps a local restoration shop has a shop they use. I'd also suggest you avoid having a ''putty flinger'' i.e. today's version of an old world metalman who has little or no experience in the removal of dents & damage from metal without the use of plastic filler. Someone with a picking hammer or ball pien could ruin these beyound repair in a New York minute!
