My windshield frame fits perfectly into the body, but as soon as I install the seal that goes around the frame it won't relax against the body. It seems the seal is so thick and heavy that it keeps the windshield from closing all the way. I purchased the seal from Bob Drake and it's a number B-45504.
Does anyone know of a softer (or smaller), windshield frame seal made for a 32 Ford closed car (5-window), original body? Thank you!!

Can you cut it down with a straight edge so the windshield closes and still seals?

Assuming the windshield is properly centered you might try lubing the seal with a bit of silicone, not oil or grease, and see if it will ease in.

They always take a long time to relax. I find that I have to take something that is kind of a hook to “flip” the lip of the seal up or out to allow the windshield frame to fit in place. Usually have to go around it a few times while also pushing the windshield in and re-tightening the slide arms. Once the thing is in a good spot and the lip is laid out against the opening all the way around, make sure the windshield arms are tight and don’t open that sucker for 6 months.

I never open my 32 windshield. But the seal works good.

Thanks to those who responded to this question. I was able to cut the seal down on the inside where it was hitting the body and this allowed the frame to fit much better. My frame was possibly made a little too snug to the body which didn't allow quite enough space for the seal. It all came out fine, just a bit of extra work which is par for the course.
    Thanks again for the suggestions!

  7. Now that you've cut the seal, I'd take a hose to the outside to see if it will keep water out.
    Just a suggestion.
