What about a pinstripe,(or two), instead of the trim rings? You could try it with pinstripe tape to see how it looks before you commit. Really nice wagon!
Please add the trim rings, the green wheels really need that little bit of flash. .................Jack
That is a beautiful wagon, and either way would be just fine. But if it were mine it would definitely have the trim rings on it. Cheers.........
Guy's the boss lady ask for opinions on trim rings or not,,,BTW,the car has dropped spindles and cut springs,,I built the car and it has a hot rod stagger just like she wanted,,HRP
yes, rings.. its bling for the green.. my logic is that there is so much green, we need something to break it up.. more than just chrome for flash.. i think its needed to break up the lines of the car some.. either way nice hotrod and i like wagons, rock on. chris.
I would run them. If you decide it's ugly, then take it all apart and repaint the wheels. Kind of a pain, but you've obviously done it before. I love it, can't wait for her to start DRIVING it.
If you can't decide just put them on one side then you can have it both ways. (great looking wagon BTW).
Put two trims rings on one side and drive it awhile. Can't see the otherside. Then if you decide that you don't like them you only have two rims to repaint. I'm just saying.
rings.. once paint cherry is broke all kings of full caps can be used to change the look and you might find just a perfect cover , ford or lancer and olds ,,,who knows till you try...my .02 worth
There's no right or wrong answer when it comes to a matter of personal taste, but I really like a narrow stainless beauty ring on a painted steel wheel with the stock Ford dog dish caps. I also like '49-'50 Ford dog dish caps with the beauty rings.
Trim rings aren't 'traditional' for that car; they're a 40s thing. Ford introduced full wheel covers in '52 (as pretty much every other manufacturer had by then) and full covers became the 'norm' for dressed-up rods and customs. While the understated dog dish caps look good, to be 'correct' it needs a set of full covers...
