As the topic says, Whats the width between the wheelwells on a 31 roadster?

Why im asking is becouse im going to buy a set of radir cheater slicks 15"*8" that will sit on two none reversed supremes. And i need to know what rearaxel width i need to search for.

  2. Here's some pics that may help.

    The mag wheel is 10" x 15" and has a 2 7/8" backspace.
Tire is a BF Goodrich 31.50 x 15 light truck which used to be the tire of choice, but the lighter duty BF Goodrich 285/70R-15 is a better choice.
They're the same size for all practical purposes.

The rear axle in the car is 56" outer drum to outer drum.
A 56" rear axle width is considered the standard for these cars and many of the Ford fat fenders.

The blue wheel pic fits under either a 29 or 31 rear fender.
There's a 1" difference in width between the 29 and 31 rear fenders when measured at the top.
The arc of the fenders is the same and both will fit, but the mounting bolt patterns are different.
Also different are the running board apron cutouts at the front bottom of the fenders.
Which makes the fenders interchangeable only if you're bobbing them.

The blue wheel shown is 6" x 15" and has a 3" backspace.

I've been looking for a pair of 8" x 15" slot mags and they should fit under the fenders just fine if they have the right backspace.

The last pic shows the 10" x 15" mag with the big tire.
The fender is just lying on the tire so we could get an idea of how wide the fenders should be.
This particular pair of fenders has a narrow left and wide right - long story there - and the picture shown is the narrow one.
Mocked up to get an idea if a drag slick would fit if the rear end was raised a touch.
The car has a transverse rear spring and rear body height is easily changed.
