I think the vents are the same for all 32"s not sure on the truck though. You may want to ask your question on the Ford Barn side. Those guys know that stuff inside and out.

  4. The truck cowl vent is identical to the passenger car.HRP

There are at least two different cowl vents, maybe more. Early and late, or early/mid/late. I think you'll need all the attachments that go with the particular vent to install it in the body.

Which one works the best, if you just want to use it to rinse off the back of your gauges?

  9. We used a 32 cowl vent (I was told it was in a fordor) that I picked up at the Charlotte,N.C. swap meet in a 34 pickup with no modifications, bolted in like it was made for it.

There may very well be a difference with mounting points but I've never encountered any problems.HRP

No, I am saying that somewhere in the middle of 1932 they changed the design. And maybe even changed it again before the year was over.

I'd make a good guess that all 33-34 trucks used the same vent as the last version of 1932 cars/trucks.

We have an early 32 pickup ( think it's # 334 NH ) and the underneath of the vent has an angled back hinge flange and what appears to be a different lever mechanism ( not sure on mechanism as we don't have that) but the underside is sure different to our 32 3W it has the regular 90 degree down hinge and lever flap.

Technically there were 2 styles of cowl vent assemblies and each require the corresponding hardware hinge to function correctly. The most common unit the deflector portion on the bottom is formed at a 90* to the lid section. The early design version, least common, has an air deflector that pitches rearward at about a 45* angle. The lid openings are both the same so the important part is the hinge pivot bracket when mixing parts.

As usual Dick comes through. But what is the best way to fit a lever and hinge to and early lid, when we do not have the underneath early mechanism?
