What would YOU do if you owned all this land and EVERYTHING on it? (make sure you look at ALL the photos taken of this place) http://www.classiccarsrotting.com/ccrtour2/th10374.html Now, in some cases its cool to know theres so many cars out there still. However, its horribly upsetting to know this place exists, inches above swamp land, and the owner will NEVER build all the cars. NOR will he let you, or I, buy any of the ones in the "woods". So, If you owned this place... what would you do with it?
I'm sure the old man won't build ANY of those cars, they'll just sit there. And I'm sure he likes the attention, having people come to him and try to buy things from him that he won't sell. For the rest of his life, he'll be a local legend, that old guy with all the old cars out in the woods. People will tell him that his stuff is worth lots of money and he'll talk your ear off about them but they'll just sit there. Eventually, the old man will pass away and there'll be a big auction, all the cars that were supposed to be worth "big money" will sell for pennies, it'll all get hauled away, and it'll be over. I kinda like old guys like this, sure it's frustrating to know that they're there and you can't have them, but at the same time, it's good to know that there will be huge stashes of old cars and parts availible for a long time in the future.
I would pick a few of my favorite cars, sell the rest to other people, then use the money I got from selling the other cars to restore the ones I picked. That way, I could own some cool cars, and all of them would get restored, which would make me happy.
Build one bad ass Flatty roadster and do big sideways dirt brodies everywhere! Then, open it to HAMBers from all over and let them take their pick.
Haha at some of the responses as to what people think this is. http://www.classiccarsrotting.com/ccrtour3/make_2637.html
They are his to do with what he wants. Lots are in real decent shape considering. Looks to me like he really took some care in storing some of them. Looks like racks and buildings were built specificly for that purpose. There seems to be some sort of tree/weed growing barrier is layed down in front of many of them. I give the guy credit for the attempt to take care of lots of them. Some of the others he might have optained as parts cars and treated as such. In any event, if the land and everything was mine, I'd probley keep them all just cuz I could and spend my days walking around looking at everything and if someone wanted something on my property, and they were nice, I'd probley give it to them. If they were a dick or asshole I'd sic my dogs after them for tresspassing.
From the website home page "All these classic cars are for sale, if you want to visit the yard and look at them." We had a fellow with a similar, maybe better, collection here in Alberta. His name, Stan Reynolds, he had a car dealership that would take anything in trade, cars, farm equipment, aircraft etc. here's what happened to his field of dreams http://www.machinemuseum.net/ Mike
Ummm, who said these aren't for sale? Last time I was up there, I was told that they all were for sale. And that ain't really swamp land, even if there is a pond on the property. That's in White, Georgia, in the foothill country, north west of Atlanta. Later, Kinky6
I would paint 5 of them green, say, "the green one's are mine" and invite everyone out to bring their tools, and food. We would all live together in the boneyard. Just buildin' and eatin' and turning freakin' inside out with joy. We would all take turns as DJ, then we would all take turns at the cutting torch. Listening to our tunes, scratchin' chiggers. Oh,...crap you've got me crying...It's...It's just so beautiful.
You'd better promise yourself a road trip to Wetaskiwin then. Even better if you can go with a club and get in on a tour of the warehouse, where the unrestored projects are preserved. Mike PS The 1/2 restored dodge in the lobby with knock your socks off!
I'd pee my pants with delight. Then, after a trip to the drug store for a sedative and Depends, I'd pick out about 30 or so projects; ya know everything I've dreamed of building all these years. Then I'd start clearing them out. Organize, catalog, and SELL baby!!! Resonable rpices, get them out in the world and take the cash towards retirement. Retirement, hell, I'd have to build my dream shop and get busy(er).
I'd have a big demolition derby Junkyard wars style. Charge $500 to enter, use any prewar car you want and pay back half/keep half for the winner. Give them 3-4 days to make ready with what's on site. Bring battery and gas and tools. Televise it and sell the rights.
Damn hippies! And how the hell did they get those cars into the top of the barn? I can picture them falling over any day now
Sorry for being crude, but... If I owned the land and the cars, every time I looked at all of the possibilities I would get an erection!
Kick myself in the balls really fuckin' hard for not takin' better care of them. Then, invite all the hambs over for a freefo'all! Olson --------- just lemme keep a few of 'em...I'll be happy as can be
You know what happens in a lot of cases - when the owner kicks, the relatives call in the crusher because they have no idea what the cars are worth or represent.
Beings that right now I'm so broke I can't even pay attention, I'd have to start selling cars! But I think I would also have to find a couple to keep and fix.
work on a few, sell a few, and also hold a jackpot for anyone who could guess how i got two dodge darts in the rafters of a barn.
I would grab the early Ford stuff, and maybe pick out 5 49-64 cars in the best shape and sell the rest.
