Want To Do It TO MY '52 CHEVY But Need To Know How Much Work Is Involved, And What Are Any Recommendations.....
Use a pickup 1950 era trans with closed drive. Has the same bolt pattern as v8. Just don't abuse it. Not real strong. 55 to 57 car or pu bell housing with mounts. Front mount the engine.
What trans do you. want to run? There are several threads here that discuss swapping in an open drive rear end. There were at least two different ones in the last week. A google search produced these results http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...8+into+a+49+to+54+Chev+car&btnG=Google+Search It isn't hard but you do have to contend with some clearance issues in a couple of spots. I don't think the above suggested trans is the way you want to go as it isn't full syncro and by now those transmissions usually need a serious rebuild. I have a late 60's mid 70's full syncro 3 speed in the 48 and it is a smooth and quiet trans that has given me many trouble free miles.
