i'm plannin on puttin a 2 deuce setup on my 327 that's goin into my 54.now bein young and poor kinda shifts my decision to the cheapest alternative i can find.i was looking at the adapter plate that changes a 4 barrel intake to a 2x2 from www.vintagespeed.com..this looks like a fairly easy bolt on idea and would save me from having to shell out clams for a whole new intake..my question is,would it be worth it?a buddy of mine says that it puts a lot more strain on the original intake,as i would ***ume it would, but would this really be something i should worry about?i know that it's probably not really gonna soup up the engine or add on horse power by switching to a 2x2,i just wanna try something different since i've only delt with the basic quadrajet before, plus i think they look cooler.anyone got any suggestions?comments?concerns?thanks ~Creepy
Some guys pull an engine from a car using a steel plate that attaches to the four bolts on an aluminum intake. I don't think putting a couple of two-barrels on there will hurt it.
I just can't see how it would boost horse power by adding those 2x2s. If you want to look cool save your $$$ and buy a 3x2, if you want more power save your money and buy a Performer RPM or a Weiand Stealth manifold and a good Carter. -Jesse
You could try an Edelbrock C4B. It's the daddy of the modern performer intakes. It has fill tube provision, would make good power with a carter afb or holley 4bbl, & has that vintage look you're goin for. They show up on ebay for around 50 bux. WWS
I don't think anyone makes an aftermarket 2x2 for the SBC. the adapter looks like the only way to do it without taking a lesson from Mr Strube and making your own. Paul
