So the question of the day is: How much does he want for it?

    To CutawayAl: excellent response.

I used to know some old time hydroplane racers even though I never got involved myself. One left behind six Merlin engines new in crates when he died in the eighties. The collector world went *******. I happen to know he bought them in the early fifties for $150 apiece, war surplus. He also told me you had to take them apart at least part way to make sure there was no cosmoline or preservative inside as it could gum them up. Don't know if the preservatives got inside the engine accidentally, or it was something that was supposed to be harmless but curdled and got gummy if left in there for too many years, or whether they always had to be cleaned out before being put into service.

Like I said over on the AACA site, given the pictures I vote for a coupe that the top was cut off of. Definitely neat and a Holbrook coupe is a nice car. However, even free it might not be a economically viable project to restore.

Also, as someone that spends time on both the AACA site and the HAMB I find their tolerance for fools to be no less than the HAMB. You need to remember that their perspective and religion is no more zealous than traditional rodders, it is just different.
