im taking two motors in for scrap on monday and have a few questions about what to keep and what not to bother with...

    1. one is a '51 216. it has an oil filter bolted to it and i want to know if i should keep that piece, will anyone ever want it? is it worth keeping around? see photo - it isnt the std one bolted to the intake, it's...well, look at the link below.

    2. i have a 235 that came out of my '53. should i keep the oilpan that still has the oil sprayer bracketting inside of it? can i use this or sell it someday when i actually have the money to hop up my current inline? current motor is a '54 truck 235, by the way. see link...
    3. also, is there a reason i should keep the crank from this motor or get what i can for it as scrap and move on?

    4. i also have two flywheels and a bellhousing, dont know the years on the flywheels, but the bell is from a '54 truck.

    5. my intentions are to build up either my current 235 or switch to a 250/292 etc with a four speed ...but that is down the road a ways. given that, will i ever need the above-mentioned bellhousing or flywheels?

im just trying to get rid of the bullshit in the shop, if im not going to need this crap, then im going to get what i can for it as scrap. what advice has anyone got?

    thanks all.

Save the oil filter. It's an aftermarket unit sold by Inner Line, and is somewhat desireable.

    I'm not an expert - but here's my $0.02

    1) I'd keep the oil filter; you're right, all I've seen bolt to the intak so if nothing else, it's rare

    2) The oil pan's off an early babibit Powerglide engine, not rare and might be the same as a 216

    3) You can tell what the flywheels are off of by counting the teeth, but I'm no help because I don't know what number means what....

    4) The truck bellhousing works with open driveline transmissions ('55 and later cars) but the throwout arm won't work with the clutch linkage on closed driveshaft cars (up to '54)
