i really hate the search function , what are the tricks? Been looking for a thread from a couple years ago where a guy from France built a 3w from 2 34 sedan quarters I have come up with zero also looking for other homemade coupe from sedan threads ~thanks
Is this the thread you're looking for? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/a-34-tudor-become-a-3w-coupe.844421/ I agree the search function ****s. I get a lot of old threads that come up in the search, even when there are more recent ones just as relevant. I have better luck finding what I want by clicking the tab at the top that says "google results"
Atta boy ****** winner winner winner...That Schoum is a pretty talented fellow. Craftsman finds same... It helps to know the ***le or parts of it. Probably not what your looking for but maybe a help... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/34-two-door-into-coupe.1011985/#post-11429175 3W http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1934-ford-sedan-gender-re***ignment-surgery.857397/ 5W http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...et-inspirational-thread.945757/#post-10639046
That's it !.. I tried every combination I could think of .. Almost hat his user name right too ... Couldn't make Google work either ... Thanks guys any other coupe conversion threads are welcome also
Not Ninja status, but the search function here (or the APP anyway) is _***les_ only. There may be some exclusion character jiggery-pokery to be used too, but I dunno what they are. If you want to drill down deeper and restrict the search to a specific website try using the Google search like this; Say you want everything for example on distributor curving, type in the search bar: distributor curving site://www.jalopyjournal.com Some websites are really only searchable this way
Guys, I'm talking about using the google search tab on here. I only used info I got from this thread to find it. I typed "France 3w 34 sedan". I got only one result, this thread. But up at the top of the page there are 2 tabs. One is "site results" which only gave me this thread. The other is "google results" I clicked on that an the thread was one of the top results. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Well, whatever works for you. Many sites are really only searchable effectively by using the site:// method externally. When I want to "read up" on a subject, it works. JalopyJournal has some of the best mechanics too. In fact I'm quite certain this was how I found the site, it kept popping up in searches.
This website has the most and best information available. An Index would make it possible to find it all.
Learning all the basics and it works great. HRP This is Ryan's tutorial First thing you should know is that the key to searching is using the "search icon" found here: When you click the search icon, you will see a search drop down appear. It will look something like this: So what does each of the fields and ****ons do? Simple: 1. This is the field where you enter your search term. You can enter something simple like: This will return all threads and posts that contain both the words "ford" and "roadster." Or, you can enter your search in quotes like this: This will return all threads and posts that contain the phrase "Ford Roadster" - both words together as typed. 2. Click this checkbox if you only want to search the ***les of posts. 3. In this field, you can limit your search to a specific user only. Just type that user's username in this field. 4. If you would like to limit your search to a certain date or range, just use this text field. ****5. This is a very important checkbox and one people should pay more attention to. Depending on where you are on the H.A.M.B., the function of this checkbox changes. For example, if you are in the "traditional hot rod" forum and you only want to search that forum (and not the entire H.A.M.B.), you would sure to check this box as it limits the search to the forum you are currently viewing. 6. This is another important checkbox. If you want to view ALL threads and posts that are returned with your search term included, do not check this box. However, if you only want to see the threads that included your search term you would want this box checked. Try it out - it will make sense once you do. 7. Clicking this ****on will take you to the advanced search page which gives you additional power to search things like: - Threads & Posts - Profile Posts - Media 8. Click this little arrow for common searches like: - Recent Posts - Your Threads - Your Posts - Your Profile Posts
Grouping words with "quote marks" helps a ton OR you can use the plus sign like this Oldsmobile+dash. I had to do this to find and old Cl***ified someone asked me about. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1952-oldsmobile-dash.958680/
Another search trick is to do a search using commonly misspelled words; e.g. axel, eldebrock, kustom, etc.
