I'm doing some small parts painting and with the cost of paint as it is- I don't want to waste it when I have mixed up more than I need...so: 1) Do you save your thinned and ready to shoot paint? 2) What air-tight container do you use to store it in?
Any good container with a good lid will work. One trick I used to do was if I had put hardener in it already, was to put the container in the fridge (not the freezer). It will keep it from kicking off for a couple days but not forever.
you can always mix up a little at a time in a mixing cup. fill your gun and if you run out mix more accordingly
like stated above, dont add hardener or catalyst untill you need too. any good clean can will work. The place you buy your paint from will/should be able to provide you with clean cans but may charge you, depending on how much you buy from them. Also I use PPG products and they have a great plastic measuring cup (Clear) for mixing their paint, primers ect. I use it and reclean it for reuse. Bear in mind some catalysts/hardeners have a shelf life so its worth the time to ask your supplier or get the data sheets from your supplier or look on line. PPG has all of their stuff online with instructions...I have saved used ready to spray stuff that is easily 10 years old and if its still good it still works...good luck Greg
Yor refer trick is o.k. with out hardner, anything past 38 degrees of mixed material will kill the hardner. Wastin your time to refer it. Mix only whatcha need is the cure.
