Just to bring everyone up to speed on my re-resurrection of my coupe, I have been hammering away on the poor old body. It's still not going to be perfect, but much better (I hope). I unfortunately did not get the time off of work to join Kerry on his jaunt from Kansas up to the Minneapolis WoW show, but instead I took that time to get a serious start on making the body of my coupe better. The weather the last few weekends has been very cooperative. here are some*****py cell phone pictures: I wonder if BobK knows this elf? drivers door (looking down)
drivers cowl patch: Patches? We don't need no stinkin' Patches!!! I have an old round hay bale feeder that someone ran over with a tractor in my steel pile. Some of the radius bends are still good. I was thinking about using a couple for some body stiffeners from the B pillar down across to the back. tie in around the down bars at the back window with some brackets. Well- that's how much I have done in the past couple weeks. Lot's more to do, but I am in the groove now....
I wonder if BobK knows this elf? Yes he does, she has been missing for 4 years, you are working her a lot harder than I would have. Send her back home, the snow needs shoveling. Looking good Jay, are you going to the LSRU? BB
hope you are able to keep that little elf involed with hotrods [and away from the boys ] as she gets older. and when they find out she can work on hotrods .... they will all say wow... looks like a fun project.....
Keep at it Jay. After this re-build, you'll be able to do it in your sleep. I'm five strong bodies away from lifting my roadster body of the rails. Got major salt infestation at every seam, nook and crannie. While it's off I'll be beefing up the radius rods and adding a torque arm. I'm way behind schedule, but I'm on a roll now. Hey, you want to be part of the five strong bodies? Good luck getting it all back together for the "season."
Shoulda,woulda,coulda.......too late now. I ran the lawn sprinkler under it for two days, but found salt under the door panels, seat and every other place I never expected to find it. anyway, what else would I have to do during this extra long winter????
Hey Jay, I just put the same patches in my A Coupe. I didn't have any elfs show up my shop just a bunch of opinions. Keep up the good work. B-Scott
I liked it better before. just kidding! looks good! I've got more help at my house.. why don't I get more done?
Huh? The body color is supposed to offset the engine color. I just don't see Jay as a fan of the monochromatic paint scheme.
Here's a little brace I put in from the verticals to the inner fenderwell. fitting the "new" cowl panel. Making a new inner cowl brace. Fitted and welded in. Moved to the back window area and did some more welding and muddin'. Well, that's what I got done this weekend. Stay tuned...
