If this guy doesn't build his car exactly like I want to build my car...he's a nazi!

What difference does it make? Most of the guys I know with real quick changes NEVER change gears anyway (except for some of the racers, and most times not even them). It's all show. Halibrand even made a dummy case.
The general public will never know that Lakeroadster has a "fake"

  3. ****gy is right, cost should not be an excuse to having a QC. I have put two of them together now in that $500 range. partly due to ****gys ecellent QC thread and tips from Flamedabone. Thanks guys!

Yep, I've got an opinion and guess what... that's all it is. I'm the first one to tell folks to build what you want and screw everybody else. Those of you who know me know that's how I've built my stuff even when folks tell me it won't work. My opinion had nothing to do with original, traditional, etc. My 31 Pontiac has a Vega steering box and disk brakes up front. Traditional? Heck no and I really don't care. Shutting it down on the dragstrip from 115, I kinda like my disks. I just like stuff that's functional. That's just me.

You did a really nice job with what you built LakeRoadster, I just struggle to understand why you did it the way you did instead of going for a real QC.

Thanks for the compliment. I build my cars to be dependable with drivetrains that have readily available parts and will be low maintenance over the long haul. A 9 inch Ford axle fits that much more than a vintage quick change. Like you, I built it the way I wanted. But I like the "look" of the quick change cover, so I made that happen too.

I appreciate others posting about "cost", but that wasn't a factor either. Again, dependability and availability were the driving factors.

The only reason I even created this thread was because I got a PM from a fellow HAMB'r asking for details. I wasn't trolling for compliments or comments, just trying to answer a fella's query.

Life is short, enjoy the ride, have fun, do it your way, help others when you can, and the only rule is there ain't no rules.

not taking it personal, just venting my opinion like other's, wasting my time, for times, i haven't taken it to the track yet, next summer will see. swaping in my 354 10/1 cr isky cammed over the winter, replacing the 2.75 to 3.55 ratio and a 10'' converter.

Vent away but I'm just giving you ****. I miss the old less politically correct HAMB where we busted balls all the time just for.

Turbo 350? How wild of a cam did Isky grind for you?

The hemi in my coupe has a Crower grind that I'm not really wild about. I've got a slightly lumpier Engle with faster ramps to swap in someday. The hemi in the digger has a roller grind Donnie Johansen suggested and Natchi Contreras ground. In fact he made the billet too. Great folks to do business with.
