I searched on here to try to find some info before asking...My dad and I were discussing if a 46 Ford pickup cab and box matches a 40 Ford cab and box? Sorry if this has already been covered. Tell me what you know.
the '40 is based on a car frame, and the '41 and up on its own truck frame, so that might cause interchange issues as well. I could be wrong, though. EDIT: And I was wrong, lol.
I recently purchased a 1946 Ford pickup and sold the doors to a buddy for his 1940 ford pickup...they fit perfectly.
Pedal fits fine in mine. I'm using a 39 car frame with 46 cab. I did make patterns for the wood to frame mount because my floors were in great shape. I put the gas tank back on the frame as 40 pickups had and repaired the gas hole in the body. Here is a thread I'm doing on mine. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=527407
Very informative thread........answered some questions I had about using the later cab on earlier frame regarding the wood supports......Thanks Ray
The 41 Ford truck used the same frame as 40 passenger cars....42 was the truck frame changeover. the 40 - 41 pickups used passenger car front fenders,...the 42 front fenders were of a more "boxy" style, and had different hardware to atch themm to the cab. 4TRUK
