quick headlamp switch question (acceptable or not)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by PBR Allstar, Jan 13, 2008.

  1. Hey everyone, I'm wiring up a spotlamp and was curious if I have to run a relay on it or not? it's a 30 watt bulb and calculating that against 12.8 volts I came up with about 2.4 amps. I have a toggle switch that is rated at 6amps at 125v, can I use this switch without a relay?? Normally I'd run a relay but I have the spotlamp mounted on my bike (I'm not using it as a night vision headlamp, I hardly ever ride it out of town and never really at night, the spotlamp just looks awsome and I'd like to to work for shits and giggles) and didn't really want to hang more stuff on it than I absolutely have to. Thanks in advance!
