I have a Dana 44 I’m replacing the shoes and hardware. I’m putting in a self adjuster bc there wasn’t one there before, which is why I’m asking instead of just replacing what there before. There seem to be two pairs of hold down springs. I THINK one is for the show with the self adjusting hardware and the other is for the shoe without. The visible difference is in the height and that one has the spring end in a tighter coil. many insight is appreciated, Thanks!!!
yup, short spring goes over the adjuster arm, but it sits in a cup that has a sleeve that fits through the arm and the shoe. The arm pivots on that inner cup, which is purple in this picture. more info https://www.pbase.com/nufsed/drumbrake
