Quick Q on closed drivetrains...

    Its enclosed...so it stands to reason, that if you built a heavily channeled modified, and the torque tube is running through the passenger compartment, if its not covered by the tunnel or floorpan, no ones arm is going to get ripped off, right?

    Don't some of them have an exposed U-joint at the front?
     
  4. Thats right. nothing thats moving is exposed.Althought the rearend and torque tube will move up and down. And there is actually only one u-joint with that style drivtrain. It is important though to set it up without too much bind in the front joint, also refered to as the coupler.

    considering the types of cars that came with torque tubes (ford til '48,chevy til '54,buick til '60) the transmission will probably fail before the u-joint/ball socket fails.
