Can anyone tell me anything about this Frankland quick change? Any ideas on how much is it worth? The other rear was laying close by, not sure what it is. Thanks, Tommy
I can tell you that it is a Franklin "champ" type rear end. The other axle is an early Ford bigger truck rear from '37-'52 or so which the quick change is based on. This stuff is all a bit bigger that the typical "V8" quick change we see here on the board, but works well on bigger cars with higher H.P. They were common ly used on Champ cars and outlaw type sprint cars, no to mention tons of stock car applications as well. The extra rear is great to have, because it is where one side bell, ring and pinion, and differential comes from for the quicky. If that quick change has done any roundy round time the differential is probably locked, so the stuff from the truck might give you a shot at getting it streetable. As far as worth? They have made what seems like a half a zillion of these over the last 60 years or so, so they are not terribly valuable. I'd guess right at 200.00 - 400.00 depending on condition.
^^^^^^^^^What Chip said, except I have seen em free to $400. And the $400 ones were NICE not all beat up from rocks. That big Ford rear will have a ring and pinion and carrier that could be used in the QC, many QCs have spools.
