Does anyone have a reference to look up a transmission number for me? I don't see the "78" cast on the lower left of the trans case and I want to know if I will be able to swap in the gears from my '47 trans. I think it may be a '37/'38?

The number on the top of the case is- 18-4172978 as best as I can tell.

Or if anyone knows where I can look to reference it. I am going to check the VanPelt website.

    Thank you,
    Jay

    V8 - 85hp 78 18-3,331,857 to 18-4,186,446

And that should be a "78" case. The 78 refers to the part # for 1937 85's, and was used through roughly 1952 on pickups as well as on '37-39 passenger.
