Opened the mailbox, saw the cover. Navarro was a speed god and he had the baddest chariot on the planet. One of my favorites.
your kidding me right? the February 2010 issues is out? when are you yanks going to wind it back to reality, its not even december yet! but I will keep an eye out for it as I would like to read about Navarro. reading the Edelbrock book at the moment. really enjoying it, but you have to put the propoganda goggles on.
Navarro Roadster has to be in my top 3 of all time hot rods. That car is so perfect in every possible way.
damn PETE...you could have shown the pic. or something. or called that freaking aussie down. have you been into the sauce again? bending the elbo as such! feb. issue HUH! YEA your tipsie, come clean man. call me POP...or the old FART!
just had a look in the newsagents we have the december issue here if you don't have it, get the first 12 issues of hopup, the one thats in a book as Navarro features heavily in there with his tech articles. some good reading.
Nice, I'll look for it in the mail. I am building a '27 roadster (kinda tribute to Barney) the "Peek a Boo Special"
Yeah, I have the Hop Up w/ the first 12. And TRJ with the not-done-yet restoration. Amazing car by todays standards, let alone 1948.
That is me pushing Tony Thacker of the NHRA Museum in Barney's car. That is my 1939. It was crazy we were going 30mph while Randy Lorentzen was hanging out the trunk of Kevin Lee's car. I was going to be in the Navarro car but my head would not fit the old helmet. So I got to ride in it on the way back. Nothing like pushing a piece of history. I can't tell you how much fun we had. Everyone had huge smiles all day.
When it came to choosing heads and intake for my flattie, Navarro was first choice and I am happy to have got one of the last pairs of heads from Barney's own production. I'll check out the newsstand today.
It is a bit crazy with the US mags. Here in Australia for example, the January issue will come out the third week in December, which kind of makes sense. Being two months ahead though is a little bit crazy, although, by the time they reach the newstands down here, it's usually right on time. LOL
Primedia/Emap/Source Interlink still squeeze out 13 issues of certain magazines like Truckin', Hot Bike and I think they still do it with Street Rodder. It is to get more money out of the advertisers and from the news stand revenue. They came up with that little plan several years ago and I still can't believe nobody has called them on it yet...
