I just wanted to let all of you out there on the H.A.M.B. know that my little brother Darrin passed away on 7/25/09 due to complications from a liver transplant at the MAYO Clinic in Rochester, MN. I was the person that donated the right lob of my liver to him, so that is why it has taken me so much time to post this up. I am a little sore and emotionally beat up, but doing as well as expected. The following is the details and a picture of the hot rod he had been working on for the past few years: Darrin Andrew Lipp of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com</st1:City>Gillette, <st1:State w:st="on">WY</st1:State> and formerly of <st1:City w:st="on">Scottsbluff</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">NE</st1:State>, passed away Saturday July 25, 2009 at <ST1<st1laceName w:st="on">Rochester</st1laceName> <st1laceName w:st="on">Methodist</st1laceName> <st1laceType w:st="on">Hospital</st1laceType></ST1 in MN, due to complications from a liver transplant. After High School graduation, he attended The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, graduating in 2004 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. At the time of his death, he was employed by Simon Contractors of Gillette, WY as an Area Manager. Darrin had a life long passion for cars, trucks and motorcycles, having raced motorcycles for many years with the Jackpine Gypsies and having been an active member of the 4X4 community as a member of the local Toyota Land Cruisers Association chapter, The Dakota Territory Cruisers. He will always be remembered for having a great smile and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family which include his parents Ken and Karen of Rapid City, SD, brother Clyde John Lipp and wife Pauline of Las Vegas, NV. <ST1Clyde</ST1 so graciously donated a portion of his liver for the transplant. Oh my God. I had not heard from Darrin in a while and had no idea. You have my deepest condolences. Last time D stopped at my ranch was 2 years ago on Thanksgiving to show me his Tudor progress and look at teh Tudor I had just bought. I am floored with this news.
So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you must be going through. I know my little brother is pretty special to me. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Tough news. I didn't know him, but I lost my younger brother several years ago and I can tell you, I didn't much like the feeling. I'm sure you are right there also. Be kind to yourself and your family. You did the best you could. Life sometimes deals us tough hands. Rest in peace, brother.
Clyde, May God Bless all your hearts. Your only brother and only sister...both so young. I can't even imagine your grief. Much prayers for all! Chuck
I want everyone to know that Darrin was one of the nicest, most layed back hot rodders I had ever met. When I was working at the rod shop I met him as he started his Tudor. For not having built a hotrod he dove into it with gusto. Building the car in a 50s block shop in an alley with the help of pals and his idea of what it needed to look like. He knew I loved seeing the progress on his car and made that stop at my place on Turkeyday and it was the highlight of mine and my lil bros (SentinelT here) day. He was tops in my book.
So sorry for your loss. Stay close to your parents, they need to know that your still here. I can not imagine loosing a child.......or a brother..........or a sister Frank
Sorry for your loss. You did a great thing. Get yourself well and let us know you are. Remember the good times.
Sorry for your loss, you are truly a great brother and a credit to the human race. I am sorry the outcome was not better. Tim
I'm sorry he passed on, but he's in a better place. I know how you feel, I lost a brother on 12/16/06 and I sure miss him. I pray for him and your family.
