Sad to post this notice, of the passing of my good friend, Pete McLeod. This is Pete talking to Squeak Bell, at Squeak's place at Bakersfield. I am sure there are a few members of the H.A.M.B. that knew him from the annual events out at Bonneville, as he was a good friend of Mike Cooke. I was fortunate to know Pete for the last 30 years, and I was fortunate to be able to go with him and his buddy Rick Young (WALRUS) on a variety of adventures, such as the Hot Rod Reunion at "FAMOSO", and also to a variety of swap-meets. We would go sailing on Rick Young's boat, on Friday's after work if there was good wind, and it was always a pleasure to have great conversations with Pete about everything, while enjoying libations as well! https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/rockledge-fl/neil-mcleod-12348487 In the last couple of years, Pete's health was suffering from a stroke he had about 3 years ago. Two years ago, he decided to move to Florida to be near his Daughter and his Grandkid's. Pete McLeod, was indeed "The Genuine Article" "No brag, just fact" The next time all of you fire up what ever cool hot rods and exotic ride's you have, gun the engine for me for a few seconds and think of Pete McLeod! Thanks from Dennis.
Very sorry for your loss, and all his friends and family. And when I fire up the coupe tomorrow after work, I will do what you said.
My father-in-law once told me that the worst part of getting old was not all the health issues, but losing the people you love. Sorry for your loss.
This was Pete's DeSoto Airflow, and the tear drop trailer that went with it, which lives on, and is running as well, in the care of a good friend, that Pete gave it to. He knew he wasn't able to take it to Florida.
Sorry to hear this. A friend of Pete and Walrus and I spent a bunch of time helping sort through some of his stuff to sell off or ship to Florida shortly before he moved. He was in pretty tough shape at the time but still had dreams. I’m glad he was able to get to Florida and enjoy some time with his family. He was a great guy, RIP
My condolence's for your loss, I never met Pete, although it looks like he would have more than a few good stories . Plus, it would have been a laugh that we have the same name, not everyday you meet another Neil McLeod, but I’d never go by my middle name ha. Rest easy sir.
Hey @uncle buck I didn't know that you knew Pete and Rick Young, (WALRUS). Let me be the first to say a big thank you, to you, for taking the time to help Pete out. The wife and I made a few trips up to his place there in Bow to help him as well. There was a number of us as close friends of his, that tried to get him to have James G. Murphy auction company, to deal with all of his vast collection of stuff that he had collected over the years, but as you say, "He still had dreams" Pete wasn't going to let stuff go, so he drug a bunch of it with him to Florida. Sadly his daughter Emily is going to have to deal with that element now. But we all respected Pete's wishes as to how the relocation to Florida was going to happen, and he did it his way! Pete was truly a great guy, so glad that you knew that personally as well! Thanks from Dennis, for your contribution of your time and help to him!
