Did you happen to see the Dan Gurney trailer that Bobby Green posted on Instagram the other day @Ryan?
Late '60s. I bought a stack of 60 of those runway mats for $2.50 apiece. My wife said I was crazy but before the end of the racing season, I'd sold all but the ones I used for $4.00 apiece to other racers. There were a lot of new trailers the next season and just like yours, @dana barlow , none of them had springs either.
We need a shot of @HemiRambler 's current FED trailer. Magnificent workmanship. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/fed-trailer-built-the-traditional-way-at-home.257218/
Looking @ all these old pic most before 1966ish has me thinking / wondering , Where I live near Old Dominion Speed Way , just out side Washington DC less then 25 air miles away Not really in middle of know where, A lot of the these simple trailers ,ramps trucks ,school buses etc. where still used up until 84 -89 ish , even in the Round e round racing ( ODSW ) was drag , circle & go kart. Then slowly to production flat trailers then about 95 with most with box trailers, I guess my question is why so many did things / use vintage way of thinking , then Bang !!! Bling bling Haulers... Now the surrounding 4 county's are like City's since 20000. Looking in the back ground of those old video's paying attention Not really a fence , no guardrails, telephone poles about every 60 feet or so , What little what they call now safety ,, staff ,driver or Spectator,,, !!!! I really really wish this day if you could show up to a place some where in USA All that attend on property ,Sign a REAL release form , NO sanctioning bodies, Gov or Lawyers , Bubble wrap people, & Run what you brung even if you wanted to strap a J2 pack on yr back & go for it , Being Free doing what you want And nobody would be liable if something went wrong, if you feel it's dangerous don't be there!!!! I grew up & to this day Im on the starting line , I chose to be there & I know the risk , & any where on the property is Dangerous,,, Just so much rules & control in last 40ish years , I like to find that Genie in the bottle,

While walking around the pits at the Billetproof Drags in 2019 I came across this truck. I was taking a photo of it from the rear and someone hollers to be sure and get a shot from the side https://photos.smugmug.com/2019-Billetproof-Eruption-drags/i-ZXSZmRf/0/e2c674a1/M/IMG_7717-M.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/2019-Billetproof-Eruption-drags/i-m6Pvwdq/0/0d88995c/M/IMG_7716-M.jpg Someday I will get this share from smugmug thing figured out.
Trailers also served as work spaces. Al is checking out Rich Howell doing maintenance on the 727 in the '66 Dart.
(I have a whole boatload of transporter shots, but I just realized they are post-'65 and not really HAMB-friendly.)

Some from the hamb some from the net...check out the VW "Tractor" I have a big file of old and new "Haulers"...I need to build an old hauler...
Thanks for the Shout Out Greg!!!! I finally decided I ought to put some fenders on it and just started mocking up an idea I had. I'm excited where it's headed so far. Each "hump" is symmetrical - makes for a really cool look from the front as well as the sides. What do you think? (Yes, I know the wheels suck - eventually I'll find something better suited. For now I'm stuck with them :-(
Note how the "King" has "Nascar Slicks" on the trailer in this picture. Next a great picture of the Pierson Bros. chopped 36 custom tow car/racer from back when many flat-towed to the races.. And last but not least the So-Cal Speed-shop tow car and streamliner on the trailer. Check out it's hoop tag light-taillight bar...
