Thanks for the info, we're going to try to make as many races as possible.

New tires all around on the car, rebuilding the posi now (it was SHOT), new 4x1 header, and hope the oil pump/dist drive works at RPM. Looking for an 11 second p*** this year (fingers crossed). I want a powerglide in this thing. I'm tired of Roy Merritt hole-shoting us.

It doesn't get much better than a good year of racing. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

It's not the transmission, it's just that old men are crafty and sneaky which always is better than young and strong. :D Roy

    Roy,

LOL....Dwight is certainly young and strong...now I have to make him crafty and sneaky. (And give him a powerglide.)

How's everything down south? Did you get everything done to your car you wanted? Did you get some weight out of it this winter?

Ron I have completely redone my car with a new front end and new rattlecan paint. I havn't got the engine back in it but soon. I think I may have taken off a hundred lbs. You know that Ozark raceway was bought out and the new owners are redoing the track. They have resurfaced it and I believe that they are going to make it a 1/8th mile track. I know the shutdown was short so a fast car had better run the 1/8th. They are building some new buildings and plan on putting a lot of money in it. I may go down there and see what it is like in a couple of weeks. They are going to run some Pro Mod cars there soon and Gary has a guy that he has been working on his injectors so I would like to see how good he does. Some of the Pro Mods are going in the mid 3's in an 1/8th miles. Roy

    Roy,

We had to go thru the posi on our car...it had 3/8" backlash and everything was shot. It works now. I got a weld-up header kit from Speedway Motors and one of the partners (Kevin Brodrick) builds a nice header so he's been elected to do the fabrication on it. The zoomie pipes are giving up way too much low-mid range torque. If I can't have the powerglide at least I want the torque...maybe we can control the car better coming out of the hole.

When is your first race? Mo-Kan, Tulsa? We're going to KCIR this evening and see how the car runs and handles with the new Coker's, steering dampener, front wheels, etc. Dwight will be driving and I'm hoping for an 11 second run. I'll let you know how it runs.

If all goes well I will take the car to Ozark to do the same as you just feel it out. With the new front end and all new steering I want to make some easy runs just to make sure there are no shakes or wobbles. The first real test will be at Tulsa May 29th. Plan on being there along with Hemibaker, Joe Hamby, and all the regular cars that run at Tulsa. If everyone shows it should really be a great kick off to the season. If my fingers didn't lie we should have 7 cars there if you guys come. :) Roy

    Roy,

We took the car to KCIR last night and made 3 easy p***es. The bad handling is gone and it tracks smoothly without the shake, rattle and roll it had before. Unfortunately, we missed one of the broken distributor gear teeth and it made it to the oil pump and locked it up,and broke the distributor/oil pump shaft. Just another speedbump in the road to fame and fortune.

Last night we talked about coming to Tulsa, so the 29Th might be a good time to come. We're trying to get schedules together so everyone can make plans. There are 2 nostalgia races here at KCIR (spring & fall) and I'm sure we'll make those, plus Mo-Kan. First of all I have to fix the oil pump and get some more runs on the car.

Hemibaker (Todd) called me last night and we talked for quite awhile. I'm looking forward to meeeting him and the others in the Tulsa area.

Let me know how your shake-down runs work out.

    Ron,
Sorry to hear about your luck with loose pieces. You did prove your design though.
It mite be time for an inline filter (screen) before the pump, easy to check for trash.

Keep talking about the 29th and you'll talk your self all the way here. Come on down and run with us. That goes for anybody else out there. It's a great track, great people, and great fun!

    Guys,

I can't really ***** too much , we only have 7 full/partial runs on the car sorting things out and the handling issues are fixed, I re-machined new pieces for the oil pump/dist drive today and it's ready to go back in the car. The car is hooking really well. We'll take the car out again this week and get some full p***es on it and adjust tire pressures, launch rpm, etc. Then we have to add the 2nd roll bar and build the new 4x1 header.

Then we're ready to race (I think). Just new car issues...nothing money and cussing won't fix.

Ron, I don't know if I have all the nostalgia-type races, but look on the schedule page on my web site. The link to my site should be in my signature.
