If we can get some cars completed for next year, We will be able to have some races here in Sunny Calif. Already got some approvals..
Do you have the dates for these events. I need to plan my next years schedule as well.?? Also are you counting the Goodguys Indy event as a race event ??? We are just starting on our GMC powered HA/GR car. Will be complete for the Indianapolis 500 World of Wheels indoor car show for sure. It will be in the Indy Road Rockets display. Looking forward to the events and racin the HA/GR car.
The Antique Gas Dragster Racing Association (AGDRA) has teamed up with the Central States Gasser Association to offer a racing program to strips in and close to Oklahoma in 2007. We are trying to get at least two race dates at each of 4 tracks. We will also be running at Tulsa as their racing program allows. The HAMB dragsters will be welcome to run with us. I believe that most of the ones I have seen are within the rules of the AGDRA. These will be points races for us but a little competition will make all of us run a little better. Race dates will be posted on the AGDRA web page as they are confirmed (the web site is down for re-construction right now...but should be back up in a week or so). Ron.
I think they are doing index racing. I had the info once, but I'm sure I'm just jumping the gun on Godzilla's accurate response anyhow.
All racing is heads up...two indexes to choose from (11.99 and 12.99). For each event there are points awarded to the low qualifier in each index (closest to 11.99 or 12.99), overall winner and runner up in each index. Acumulate points during the season toward championship at the end of the season...based on performance not popularity.
Godzilla, It shows realy poor form to qiut HA/GR, then promote your new "association" here. I don't give a damn what you do or where you race. Your rules, points or website add no positive value to the threads in this forum. If you want to pick up your toys and go home, then do as you please. I'm tired of reading about it.
Just providing a little information to the guys who are looking for a place to run their cars here in Oklahoma. They might want to have fun...make some runs...meet others with a similar interest in nostalgia racing. I am sorry but I don't see that I have harmed this forum of yours...and the racers that you speak for. I can assure you that I quit nothing...just found a place to race my car and have fun doing so. The Central States Gassers are a great bunch of guys and I feel lucky to be associated with them. Please feel free to avoid reading anything that I should post that offends you. I shall, however, continue to support the HA/GR class and its rules. While not having a car myself to run in this class, I have been asked to build a rear engine sidewinder on a 89" wheelbase with dual rear tires. I think it would be a fun build and should meet the rules to run as either HA/GR or AN/GD....sorry, you probably didn't want to read about that. Ron.
Here in Australia we will have a minimum of 3 events here in Sydney during 2007, as well as a very real opportunity to run at the Willowbank Nostalgia Nationals(in Brisbane) mid year, with the opportunity to run at any existing CNDRA 'nostalgia' event here in Australia that we choose to attend. NOTE: Whilst we are 'technically' using an existing 'Aussie nostalgia' series, we are definately part of the HAMB universe. "Spreading the Gospel"..... Cheers, Drewfus
Dont forget we have two afterhours events planned for the group. One is the Bubbas Trailer Park HAMBer/Spam-a-rama on friday evening and the other is a cookout at Culberson Customs/Road Rockets sat evening. Both are close to raceway park on the west side. Would like to display your car at both if posible. Appearance fees are payable in spam and moon pies.
I was very disappointed when I was not able to get my car ready in time for Indy this year. Plans are already made to attend next year with several of my racing buddies and the Central States Gassers. Once we get there you can decide if you want to invite us...sounds like fun. Ron.
I plan to run Indy, hamb drags, and maybe others if within driving range. Looking forward to meeting other ha/gr people and getting the rail on the track. Haven't drag race since 1966 so probably a little rusty on the lights.
Your invited , our local gasser guys will there smelling like 111 octane as well. (check this month super chevy cover 55 chevy gasser built by Tom Culbertson of Culbertson customs Indianapolis)
Thanks...I will pass your invitation along. We will all get spammed to the gills. My understanding is that there will be at least three of the gasser guys from here in Oklahoma making the trip. I am hoping to see about ten cars in our caravan by the time June gets here. Ron.
Is Indy a for sure deal? I thought all of Goodguys drag racing was put on hold for next year due to lawsuit pending with the new owners of Famoso raceway????? Brad
I dont think we have heard it's offical from the Goodguys that Indy is off. I dont see how the Calif mess would effect Indy,But i'm not a lawyer. (thank god)
The Cin-Day Rodders are working on having a car ready for this summer's events. I'm sure we will make it to the HAMB Drags with at least one car, possibley two.
Well, I just heard from Terry at the Sooner Motorplex (Lawton, OK) and he says that he is "very interested" in setting a couple race dates for our cars at his track. I have given him the dates for the Tulsa races and asked him to find slots around them. He said he will call me with the dates. I am arranging a combination show with our cars along with the Central States Gassers, so it should be a great day of oldies but goodies. The fans ought to really love it. I will post the dates when I have them and I guess you can PM or email me and register to participate (that way I can give him a head count). I am pretty sure that there will be no cost for the cars and crews to enter and Terry might even offer a little purse...might is the operative word there. If not I will try to arrange a trophy/throphies if I can find sponsors for them. We will see.... So keep watching this thread for updates on this deal. Ron.
Hornets Will Beeeeee Therrrrrr.......... Is It A 1/8 Mile Strip??????? Hiney One Of The Hornets.......
It is an 1/8th mile. Really great racing surface. I am trying to set up the same deal at Ardmore (2 race deal). I have been told that we would be able to run an 1/8, 1000 foot or a 1/4 at Ardmore. Since most of us are not running front brakes...and the shut down is a little short...I would think that the 1000 foot or 1/8th would be preferable. Thunder Valley would be 1/8th, 1000 foot or 1/4 mile. I have not contacted them...I have been told that they are little difficult to work with so I am putting them off. I have not heard back from Ark City. The racing surface is so rough there that I am not sure I want to set anything up there or not...give me your input. I talked to Ron in Kansas City and he is going to check with Heartland Park. I would really like to race there at least once this year. I hope it works out...keep you posted. Ron.
