Those guys had chrome plated big br*** ones. Can you imagine that type of racing today? The safety geeks would have conniption fits!

 

I dig it! There was a Roaring Roadster track in Englewood, Colorado.

 

One TV program in the early fifties (51-52) had an episode with a few minutes of jalopy racing.
The visions, to my young mind were, horrific, ugly, but not enough that I did not want more.
I used to know the name ( Not important ) can't find the mess in my bucket brain.

Just came to me, the show was called "Life with the Erwins"

 

30 seconds in... 3rd car. barely noticeable. The rear gets loose ON the embankment, driver saves it. What a feeling!
Straight axles, skinny tires, dirt track, tight loop, short & steep embankment.
Meditate on that for a minute.

 

well at least they had good sense to use a roll ca . . . . oops; never mind.
