I like to use the cheap aluminum stock car cross flow radiators and stand them on end. You have to relocate the filler from the side to the top. You can get them in 22",24" and 26" sizes. I have used them in "T" shells,"A" shells and '32 shells. You can get them for about $170.00 from Speedway Motors.

I've had good luck with early Mustang radiators. Used them in 28/29 shells and 32 shells. With the 28/29 you will need to put some mesh infront of the radiator. The mustang doesn't fit as tight to the outside as the stock one.

We used an early mustang radiator on our T bucket project, fit fine in the model a grille shell (but we had to use a swivel neck on the Chevy manifold to account for the radiator inlet being on the "wrong" side of the Ford radiator) and cost a helluva lot less than a replacement model A rad!

I new about the Mustang rads but was wondering if there was any newer stuff that guys are using.I`ll keep the speeway rad in mind.I hate to say it but some imports have some small rads, anybody ever use any of them.We have used VW rads for drag racing but I don`t think they will cut it on the street behind a SBC

NAPA lists the Mustang HD radiator for $192. Not a bad price at all.

I'm also interested in hearing of any sources from "newer stuff" that might work. So, now I'm going to try to hijack this thread :D Cooling a SBC is one thing, but I'm working on flathead power for my Model A - any low-buck options there? How hard would it be to modify the Mustang radiator for the extra ins and outs? I don't figure that Y-ing the flathead water ins and outs would be a good idea ............... and I'm too cheap to pay $500 plus for a radiator! Okay, I will if I HAVE to, but I'd rather not.

I'm currently using a '71 Dart (318) radiator in an 'A' shell for my flathead. It was pretty easy adding the extra inlet and outlet. It does OK cooling the flathead.
