why not just use tractor tires?

Ill stick with bias if its a 50s style build.

Radials if it has fenders. Period

With all due respect, threads like this wouldn't be so boring, repe***ious, tedious and overdone if people would just answer the questions asked and keep their unsolicited opinions to themselves. The OP clearly stated "I LOVE the look bias plys" and yet many of the responses are regarding what people think LOOKS best or LOOKS correct. The query was regarding the "death wobble" and whether bias ply tires are prone to heating and blowing. Perhaps threads would be much shorter and more informative if we all stick to the subject at hand and save the other comments/opinions for a thread in which they are relevant.

Well, here's a direct answer then. Of course not. How the hell do you think we would still even be using bias after like a 100 years of use if they were prone to heating and blowing? It's not like they invented radials and then everyone said thank God, no more over heated and randomly blowing tires to worry about. And when was the last time anybody heard of anyone have a death wobble on anything other than a modified with likely suspension geometry issues? Ever heard of a properly maintained factory car with bias with any kind of death wobble? Yeah, me neither. Is that a clear enough answer?

I ran bias ply for 12 years. A set of coker 15's for five years and just wore out a set of 16's. I just bought a set of Diamondback radials. After two x-country runs on bias, I decided the next long run would be on radials. I've drivin the new radials for about 1500 miles here in New England and I just love the "new" feeling they give the roadster. I'm not nuts about the look when parked, but at 65-80 you can't see the differance. I kept the old bias set up still mounted to install when I need the "right" look, but I don't expect to see it often. Mine's a driver.

Radials on the left photo, bias on the right.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

I run Radials on my truck and Bias on the roadster.

If you went with a period build, use bias ply tires. I was amazed how well they actually feel on my truck. I take corners a little slower, and I slow down over ****ty patches on the road...I will probably use bias rubber on all of my builds.

As far as testimonials go; I've run Denman, Allstate, Goodyear & Goodrich, in the past, some of which aren't made anymore. Just wore out a set of BF Goodrich Silvertown(Coker) excellent tires but compared to Firestones I get better life on Firestones. Am currently running Firestones(Coker) and Excelsior(Coker), both are excellent performers, smoothe running, absolutely no issues with them.

Tyres, unless I'm very much mistaken, are the round rubber things that go on your wheels.I like the black ones with the big white rings on them. They look nice

WOW,I didnt think this would cause so much commotion...I just thought that with newer tech in our hands things might have changed.I am leaning towards bias BUT again,I cant find anyone who knows how to TRUE a tire here in Michigan...( In case I run into a problem..) How do we close this thread..?I dont want no ROCK flinging at each other, and yes I DO respect your opinions..
