I have a 350 in my 51 chevy with the stock radiator from the 216 six cylinder.

I'm currently running with the stock 7 lbs. cap.
It's working fine but I was wondering if I should get a higher pressure cap for the V8?

  2. I'd stay with the seven pound cap unless it started blowing out the overflow.

I ***ume it's the old radiator and not a new design one. High pressure will kill a radiator, especially an old one.

A 12-13 lb. cap is the most I'd ever put on it. The volume of water in that six cylinder radiator should be ample to cool almost any SBC.

Higher pressure raises the boiling point.
    That's it.
