Try PRC. They custom make alum. radiators very reasonable prices! They may sell you a core to your specs. (Performance Rod & Custom)

  5. I have been researching this as well. Working on a couple options. What a fabricator pal did was to take an inexpensive welded aluminum crossflow, cut off one tank and fab his top tanks then redo the inlets. I also talked to a radiator guy I know and looked into hammerforming my tanks in br*** and having him solder them to a generic copper core of the appropriate size.

But I would like to get rid of the middlemen and find cores myself.

  6. Give Randy Pettey a call, he custom built me a rad to my specs and was real reasonable, nice guy, he may sell you a core. 586-412-1298 He is in Michigan and was going to become an Alliance vendor.

BILL...O your looking for a radiator, you just don't know it! the CORE is the center section that attaches to the tank's and bracket's. SON your ignorant to the facts. and by the way, channeling doesn't have anything to do with the radiator...POP.

  8. No, read his post. Many of us are looking for CORES to build our own custom radiators.

Hate to break it you POP, but you need some help with your reading comprehension first, then some hot rod building help. A lot of times channeling does have a lot to do with the radiator. Once channeled a lot of cars need a shorter radiator do to room constraints.

ZMAN...I hate to break it to you, but your channeling the body, not the shell. 1 can simply lower the shell in the frame...POP.

Yes and when you lower the shell a whole lot of time you no longer have room for the radiator that was there. Ya know since it usually sits on the radiator mounts. Nice try but you're still lacking in reading comprehension.

I believe YOU are ignorant to the facts POP. Channeling means a shorter rad for the most part. Finding a center rad CORE, would allow one to cut and re-solder the CORE to needed height. Then one would bring the shortened CORE to a radiator shop to install new finns...HAULER told you.

HAULER...I worked on radiators over 20 yrs. and he said he wanted the core. nothing about a radiator shop. 1 with any sense would simlpy take his old radiator to that shop. and by the way HAULER the damned core is tubes and finns...POP.

  18. Then the lead poisoning must have got to your brain. A CORE with HEADERS is what the OP and many of us are looking for.

Here are some cores for trucks, kind of big, but if they make big’uns, prolly make little’uns. http://aceradiator.com/radiator.html
Right after the Volvo Truck Core there is a note that they fabricate cores of other sizes, To call them.

Looks like it would be easy to fab tanks onto them.

Bill are you hunting a new core or a asking which model of radiator core that you might find to cut down?

I think about any good radiator shop should be able to order you a core to your specs.
Bu good, I mean a shop that still builds, rebuilds and repairs radiators and doesn't just stock replacements and do flush jobs like a lot of the new ones do.

You would still have to have the top and bottom plates and tanks unless you are intending to make your own tanks.

I'm wondering if he's looking for an affordable core like I am. The core in my 57 Buick could stand being freshened up. But the Radiator shop told me just the core was $350. Then the work on top of that.

  26. Speaking for myself, I need a core narrower than what an off the shelf radiator has as well as a touch shorter. I have done tin/br***/and silversmithing in the past and am looking at hammerforming my tanks to fit. Or like I posted above do it in aluminum like a good friend of mine already did.

    HAMBers DIY:)

well i'm the one who bumped the thread from the dead and i dunno if bill will answer or if he's even around any more but anyways...

i'd like to find a regular blank core with nothing on it. i could probably cut up a mustang radiator and make my own top and bottom end tanks but their $250 to start with. i don't know how to work with br*** so i'm sticking with aluminum. i just want a decent quality non-chinese junk core.
