I am starting to look around for a radiator for my 331 Chrysler Hemi. I will be using a 32 shell. A friend has a new Griffin alum radiator that he bought for his flathead. He isn't going to use it and I was wondering if it would be big enough to cool the Hemi? Will it work with one upper and one lower opening capped off? I'm running a manual transmission and would plug the cooling for the aotomatic trans.
If it is big enough to keep a Ford flathead cool it should be plenty big enough for the Chrysler. Even though the Chrysler makes about twice the HP it is a much more efficient design when it comes to cooling. With a new rad and 16 pound pressure cap you should have no problems on the hottest day. You are planning to use a fan aren't you?
I ran a stock '32 Ford V-8 radiator in my Model A with a 331. Used an original radiator cap as well. It ran so cool I would put cardboard in front of the radiator evenings and in the Fall to get the temps up! I would think you will be fine like Rusty said...
