im thinking im going to run a ford tractor radiator in my car...i was wondering if anyone has run one of these...i need 21 inches tall and fit in a 32 shell...but i really would like to know if anyone has ever soldered their own necks onto a radiator and how it turned out ..im running the flathead v8...i was going to do this to a 65 mustang radiator but they look too new for my car with all these old parts on it(nothing that was originally made after 53 aside from what i made myself)..i think the ford ones with the tapered corners look better and i still donlt have to spend 500 or whatever it is for a repro 32

    thanks

Mine is about the same dimentions. I'm running a 4" shortened 32 PU shell. I went to the junkyard and got a 72 Dodge dart/ Ply duster radiator just for the top tank( the width was right). They have spots on each side for outlets. I had to taper the top corners ( pie cut the top ends of the tank). The radiator shop ordered me a 4 row core the height I needed and made a bottom tank. I brought in an old flathead radiator and they put in the 4 outlets. It was a good deal at about $300. [IMG]

I made a cover to fill in the area above the tank to force more air thru the core. It comes out with 3 screws and cleans up the area. [IMG]

Here's a shot of the bottom. [IMG] I built a cushioned support for the radiator so it can stand alone without the grille-which comes off with 4 bolts. overspray
