so whats youre take on this fellas? iv got a original 29 a radiator and im fitting a small block in my car, its time to get a radiator done up. so far i havnt found much that fits nice or anything under 500 bucks. went to a older shop today and they said they can rebuild mine with new core, flip the bottom tank, move the outlets were i want them and also make it pressurized, he will fit my shell and basicly i take him my shell and rad and he will make it a bolt in deal all done for 375...is this a good option?
I got one of the same off the net last year,$100 delivered, I don't remember the co.name but should be easy to find. It did a wonderfull job with a mild small block.Best of luck.
already looked at mustang, they do not fit right they look very funky. they look like just what it is,thrown in there to work. they are to short, you see the space were the tank is when youre standing in front of the car. or at least from what iv seem. got anypics of one in a shell?
68 mustang? the v8 rad right? did you just have a shop move the inlets? cause this guy is going to make it were i can still fill it were the stock one did since he will be using my top tank with some modification. i always thought the mustang rad looked very 'thrown together' in a A shell. maybe the one i looked at was different
64-66 mustang fits, works great, but looks like a mustang radiator in an A grille shell. You can see the lower tank unless you run some sort of a mesh or screen in front. Fine for some cars, not so great for others. $375 for the work you describe above sounds like a great deal. I couldn't find anyone to even recore my original '32 rad for less than $650!
thanks thunderbird, thats what i was thinking, i dont want to see the tank, they seem a bit short. i do like the price, but im not sure if ill ever like the way it looks. i thought it was a good deal but wasnt sure, most places want 500 to start on it.
........Why don't you just buy a Walker.......you really want a radiator thats works good, bolts up,and has a dealer that will stand behind it.......If you stick 3 grand in a motor....don't you want to a good radiator to cool it?.......in the long run....its worth the price.......
shop here did my tank for my 29 chevy like you are talking about looks good and has lasted for 15 years they just did the one for my 34 plymouth and charged me 400. i like the fact if you have a problem you can take it in to get it fix instead of sending it back and waiting for it to be shiped back
big john- i spent 500 in my motor...so. and this is a shop im talking to have it done, so im pretty sure he will stand behind it to.
OK Guys, Here is a 65-68 Mustang V-8 Radiator in a 34 Chevy grill shell in a38 Chevy truck cab. $130 at Advance auto. They are very nice. They are not the $600.00 in my 57 Chevy but they will work. Hope this helps.Tom (Tired Old man)
Support your local radiator shop. I've had a couple done at mine. Same tanks, new core & move hoses for less that 400 bucks. Take it home & drop her back in.
haha thanks lawman but your shell isnt helping! im talking about the tank being visable in my shel since the A doesnt have a grill. thanks for the visual tho, how tall is the actual core? not counting the tank
Wish I could help with a number but the truck is about 50 miles from here now for the winter.Good luck. Tom (Tired Old Mna)
Have to agree. $500 for the recore on my 38. I have to run the **** out of it to hit 160 on my flathead. But I'm stupid
okay thanks man, i dont want to spend the money when the under 200 for a mustang rad option is there but, i dont want it to look half done sicne theres no grill to cover
Best deal around. I have one on my A with a sbc http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/32-F...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5813ee67
I meant no offense hooligan. I meant I'm stupid!!! But for 175 dollars more you have a custom fit that works. Well... if the shop does a good job. And it looks right.
skwurl- youre running a chopped 30 ford shell and it fits well? im not sure what the difference is between that and mine, think it would fit? i cant weld aluminum so i cant do much modifying. saxon- offense? you didnt say anything wrong, no worries man.
skwurl- do i have to cut my shell at all? i forgot to ask you, its a 3 core, so its thicker. and my rad is very clsoe to the fan as it is,so would it rub
Mine doesn't rub. I did have to take a fan spacer out but it works great. Just paint it black. You will have to make modifications no matter which one you go with. As far as cutting your shell thats up to you. I don't know how the front of your car is set up.
No need to buy a new rad. Have the stock one converted with a new core, it's how it's been done forever. I had my 29 converted to cool a flatty with four new inlets/outlets put in. The radiator shop guaranteed their work, and it's been good for years --holds 16 pounds of pressure. You say want to put a 29 shell on it, so have them put the new spout in back for a new radiator car. But tell them to keep the stock filler on top for looks, and have them seal it up from the inside. I recommend getting second opinions at other shops, then pick the shop you think is most competent.
well my radiator is realy clost to the fan now, i think it may rub, im not running anyspacers. the shop was going to remake my old rad to the same thickness it was. as far as how its set up its stock as far as my shell is concerned, im not chanelled so i dont want to cut my shell at all, do you think i can get some measurments? im realy interested in this rad that youre showing me. so it doesnt have the stock side brackets i guess i have to fashion another way of mounting the shell to the rad. i love the price so i want to make sure it fits. im almost out of my budget and this will keep me in it. im trying to get everything i need and im realy close.
and i cant see them pecker head! okay that sounds bad but it is youre name! im talking about the tanks, up close. seems like the ones ive seen the tanks are visable and dont look to amazing,
skwurl, can you give me measurments on youres? theres no info on that rad, no dimensions, theres no way of telling if it will work for me,
