Technical Radiator Shop in the Des Moines IA area?

Since today's radiators are cheaply made throwaways, it seems to be hard to find an honest to goodness radiator shop. Can anyone recommend a shop that will actually boil and check my radiator for leaks, hopefully in the area of Des Moines / Ames Iowa?

If I am forced to venture outside my area, does anybody know if the little shop (can't remember the name) in Fort Dodge (I think it was on 22nd) is still open?

    Thanks in advance.

I was just told today that there is a real radiator shop in Chelsea, IA. A name was mentioned but I've forgotten it already.

    Gary's right!
Kasal Brothers Repair; 641-751-1198, Chelsea, IA. Might be a 2-hour drive for you, but they do good work. Have a recored, true brass & copper radiator in my T that worked wonders for me.

It has been quite a few years, but I had one cleaned and checked at Ultimate Automotive on Oakwood Dr, just west of Merle Hay Rd. Or check with American Radiator on Broadway, east of E. 14th Street.

I'll have to check on the one by Merle Hay. I went to the website for American Radiator and it looked like they were more geared toward commercial trucks and equipment.

I've used Kasal's just outside Chelsea a couple years ago. He fixed one and told me another was too far gone.

Check out Story City Radiator. I had a heater core recorded 2 years ago. Highly recommend.

    Story City is closed.
Owner retired and no one wanted to learn the trade.
Bummer, he was a friend and good at his job.
