Well today i was working on my car changing the plugs over to resistor type when i was done i started the car and let it run for a few minutes, when i heard a hissing sound i went to listen for it when i found it the 5/8 hose going into the heater core was pissing out a little,so i shut the car off which mind you was running a whole maybe 2 minutes. I walked over to the radiator when i took the cap off it seemed to have pressure on it already and some of the antifreeze came out,how could it build pressure so quick? I also blew a heater hose out on saturday coming out of the heater core going into the head i guess its the return hose form the heater core. Anyway it was old and dry rotted so that might be a problem in its own. My ? is why would i build pressure up fast. I took the cap off the rad and ran it for awhile it seemed fine ,i put it on and no leaks anywhere i know probably the heater core might not be good thats why that was leaking...So does and old car have to be purged when adding water to the rad to get rid of air? Just curious because it was weird....Dont know what to think.
No bubbles at all with the cap off i had the cap off for 10 minutes while the car was running i didnt see anything...
Well im going to by-pass the heater core because i think its leaking then im going to run in again...I hope its something simply...Should a radiator hold pressure say like over nite..Say tomorrow when it was cold i open the cap and it still had a little pressure on it what could that be?
