Any suggestion on what radiator to use in a 1940 ford with a SBC.Try to find a cheaper radiator than a walker or other aftermarket radiator. Thanks

Speedway Motors, Walker Cobra, 10 year gaurantee. $439.99. You may find cheaper but not better.

I actually have good results with the STOCK radiator in my 40 coupe.
I had it vatted and cleaned ... and had them install just one opening in the top tank ...

    283 bored .060
    10 to 1 compression
    aluminum intake

    and 55/56 Chevrolet exhaust manifolds.

I did upgrade to a NEW alumnum Edelbrock water pump :D

But I suggest a WALKER ... if your radiator is shot.

Any stock replacements from other cars that are about same size?

Take a look at 60's mustangs stock radiators. We just put one in our '47 Merc with a few modifications, but was close to stock dimensions. I'm sure there are others that would work as well, but we bought this still in the box at a swap meet for $25!

For my '34 chevy, I purchased an original radiator off of Ebay for $35, and had it re-cored at an old timey radiator shop locally for $175 (I also had to have it shortened a bit to clear my crossmember. Way cheaper than a Walker, and allows me to run the "through-the-radiator-shell" filler neck.

We did similar with our old '48 ford...had it re-cored and had one upper hose port and one lower hose port plugged to run with a SBC.
