I have a '54 chevy 210.... I've replaced everything on the cooling system besides the radiator. I've cleaned it thoroughly and flushed the system repeatedly....I'm simply wanting a daily driver, no performance at all, but my radiator keeps on overheating. So, can I just get a junk yard (good) radiator that fits?....
Just bite the bullet and buy a replacement radiator and get it over with. Either a new copper or aluminum radiator will last you for years and let you cruise without constantly worrying about what your temp gauge is doing. Any more you can find quality replacements in the $ 200- $300 range if you shop around. Don
The answer really depends on what you replaced everything on the cooling system with. And what you replaced it on. You are running the original 200K+ engine or an LS something or other? Did you replace the pump with a nnew pump or a rebuilt pump? Did you get a blister pac t stat for 4 bucks or a good T stat? How are your hoses? Do you have a fan shroud? Do you have all the proper shrouding in place, as in the thing that seal the hoos so that the air has to p*** though the radiator or can the air go around the radiator? What are your hoses like? Is the bottom hose ****ing flat when you run it or??? You can buy a brand new radiator for a '65 Mustang v-8 for about 125.00 if the radiator is really your problem but before you throw more money at it make sure you know what your problem is.
