Radiators

If your 59 ford has a radiator with a tank on top, can you also use a ford surge tank off the T-stat. I know that the surge tanks were designed for fords using radiators with no tank tops.

 

Beep they were or are also for engines that the T stat housing is above the radiator.

It won't hurt a thing if you have one anyway. We used to use them on our old fords when we put FEs in them for extra coolant capacity. I don't think it really made any real difference but we thought it did.
