It's getting to be the time of year where I have to s****e the frost off my windows in th emorning. I noticed that my Rain-X'd windshield seemed easier to s****e than the rest. Is it just a fluke, or does the Rain-X actually make the frost easier to s****e? Would it be benificial to use it on all my gl***? Just wondering.

Just find yourself two pieces of heavy plastic that wont blow around and cover your windows the night before. That will eliminate the need for spending money on anything else.

The thing that is even crazier. After it sleet/rains and freezes overnight, the next morning when you are out thinking that you are going to have to s****e thru a half of inch of ice. Once you get a little s****ed, it just slides right off, kinda like the window has oil on it. Which is what RainX is. Make sure that you don't by the "RainX wax" it ****s, I bought the wrong one before we drove to Bonneville this year and it would haze over alot more than the liquid one.

Oh yea, and I put it on the side mirrors.

Hell, I've been s****ing windows for a couple weeks already. This sounds like a tech tip I can use. Thanks.

Put it on the outside mirror's too. They also have a windshield washer mix too.

  9. I used to use it a lot until I finally bought a windshield wiper motor. It doesn't work too well on snow though, and DON'T buy that anti-fog **** for the inside of the windows;it ****S big time.Leaves a film that no amount of rubbing with a clean paper towel will ever get off and the windows fog anyway.BTW to get Rain-X off,use a product called,"No Touch Gl*** Stripper"available through most auto supply stores.Works great.

OH MAN that never-fog stuff will ruin your driving experience!!! It leaves this rainbow/glint effect from the oil, or whatever it is, and it's terrible. Plus it hazes in a really weird way-- like clear water rather than the normal fog. Either way, it causes great problems with visibility. And you CANNOT REMOVE IT. I tried rubbing alcohol, laquer thinner, industrial strength Windex from a janitorial supply, vinegar-- nothing removed it. I eventually sold the car. I hated it.

I have had similar experiences with Rain-X on the outside, but I did not realize it could be effectively removed. So just from my own experiences, I say to use at your own risk. Perhaps you'll find a way to remove it.

Put Rain-X on my dads W/S a few years ago. The next morning after freezing rain, he went to s****e it of and it came off in one piece. Called me and said "what the hell you put on my W/S??? thought I broke the window". I like it....No wipers since 1974..........OLDBEET

A geeser told me the pre-Rain-X way was to slice a green onion and wipe up and down on windshield. He says it works the same. Been afraid to try it, just use Rain-X.

  13. I've been a rain-x fan for years...!

I've driven X-country so many times in snowy mountains to the salty midwest highways and that stuff is a life saver.

Use it on the headlights and it'll resist snow and salt build-up on slushy days...! [IMG]

All the Northern "Truckers" I know use it and have great testimonies on how well it works for them!

We swear by the windshield washer mix. Naturally it costs a little more but it's well worth it because it's there when you need it. I'm not a regular maintenance kind of guy so that works for me! [IMG]

Never have seen that. I've been using Rain-X for over 40 years.

If you use Rain-X, do not make the mistake of running your defroster on high while your wipers are on. If the outside of the gl*** gets dry where the heat concentrates, you'll have black streaks on the windshield that are almost impossible to remove. A local delivery driver who worked for the same company as I did used my linehaul truck in the city one day. I had just Rain-Xed my windshield and he left the truck running with the defroster full blast and wipers running at every stop he made whether it was raining or not.
