Go ahead and fix the chop. It's your car, and if you think it's over chopped, your right! I happen to agree. But, I would caution you to finish the "unchop" before removing the fill in the top. That panel up there adds a hell of allot of strength to an "A" body, and they are pretty floppy with out them. Mine is staying stock height, but all of the wood is going away in favor of steel, and the top is getting filled. BUT, I will be making a faux top "insert" from 1/4 plywood that will be secured from the inside with small "T" nuts and machine screws and covered on the out side with white vinyl... Looks stock, (well early sixties at least) but much stronger and with aproximately 1/8 the squeaks and rattles of a wood bearing "A" Model.
You have a valid point, some people actually like to drive their chopped coupes more than on and off the trailer to be parked at a car show. The firewall looks like they inserted the front of a small wheelbarrow in it.
Love the chop, I chopped mine twice. 4 inches and then 5 after I looked at it for awhile. Chops perfect but I channeled too much. Now its a reclineoline.
If you un-chop I will un-subscribe! Looks bad *** dude! Sell it to me I can screw it up beyond beleif!
